WHAT DAY IS THIS?

Have you awakened during the past weeks and said to yourself, “What day is this?” I know I have to mentally stop and refocus on even the day of the week. Never in our lifetime, have we experienced a time like this.

Someone posted “”Until Further Notice the days of the week are now called, thisday, thatday, otherday, someday, yesterday, today and nextday”.

My week is always built around my routine for each day of the week, and all of that is anchored by Sundays. Without the gathering of saints on the Lord’s Day, I can easily get confused by the days. Why are we like that? What is it about changing our routine that is so upsetting.

I read early this morning the following excerpt:

Adrienne Heinz, a clinical research psychologist at the Veterans Affairs National Center for PTSD, notes: “Our routine is the scaffolding of life. It’s how we organize information and our time. And without it, we can feel really lost.”

As a result, she says, “I’m . . . really worried about families. I’m worried about increases in alcohol use. I’m worried about domestic violence. I’m worried about child abuse, because parents are under-resourced.”

It is easy to be settled and safe in our own environments. Yet, God is speaking in Loud Tones to every believer, “you have an important work to finish”. We must pray and intercede for others during this crisis. Even when we cannot  meet together, we can and MUST pray. Listen to what Mordecai said to Esther and her response.

Esther 4:13  And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14  For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” 15  Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: 16  “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”

So, the IPHC leadership, has helped us deal with this issue. They have asked us to Fast and Pray on Wednesday during this crisis.  Will you join us? At least that way we will have one day to anchor to.

Whatever we want to think about this crisis, we are all in this together. As Christians, we should set the example of obedience and faith. Others are watching how we deal with these things. But most importantly God is watching. Despite all the inconveniences and all the frustrations. I believe “the kingdom is for such a time at this.” God Bless You as you Pray.

PALM SUNDAY LIVE SERVICE (EDITED)

Here is the link to view the Palm Sunday Service. I tried to have everyone sing together, but that did not turn out like i hoped…… lol……….  and I have reduced most of the video to just seeing me……..  don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable on screen.  This is our third time, each one gets a bit better, so I figure the first time I have a “Perfect” video…. the will lift the “Shelter in Place” Mandate and we can all get back to church soon……..  God Bless

Palm Sunday Invitation to Join Us LIVE

PALM SUNDAY SERVICES

With the increased order to “Shelter in Place”, I have asked everyone to stay at home for the next two Sundays. I realize that it is so very hard to miss church and especially these two very special services, Palm Sunday and Easter, (not to mention Sonny’s amazing Easter Breakfast).

As Christians it is important for us to set the example and follow guidelines issued by our National and State Leadership. This is not fearful, but wise to limit exposure. COVID-19 is no respecter of person, age or health. Some of us could even be carrying the virus without ever being sick. I, for one, do not want to take the chance of being such a carrier.

Because of the lack of physical connection. I am posting morning devotions beginning today and going through Easter. Each day I will be speaking about the events that took place on that day during Biblical times. You can watch on the church Facebook or Website.

So, Sunday morning, I will be Live on your computer, tablet or phone, at 10:00 am EDT (a time change to help avoid the high internet traffic between 11 and 12 on Sundays). I hope this works for everyone. Again, I will record (if I remember to hit the button) and repost in later on Facebook and our website, rlsuffolk.org. Excerpts from the Prayer of St. Patrick of Ireland

Last Evening Judy and I watched the Movie “I Am Patrick” made by CBN. The Story of a Young man, taken by Pirates, sold into slavery, taken to Ireland, escaped to home, only to be called by God to go back to that land to preach the Gospel. It is the story of St. Patrick.
Here are excerpts from what is know as “Patrick’s Breastplate” or His Prayer of Protection. .

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.

I arise today, through The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun, The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire, The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind, The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth, The firmness of rock.

I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a multitude.

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
