A Special Prayer in Response to the Coronavirus

Today we intercede against the devastation and fear currently being caused by coronavirus around the world.

We join together, to pray verses from the Bible, in response to the global coronavirus crisis.

Lord Jesus Christ, we ask You to protect us from the spread of the coronavirus.

Psalm 46:1-3;6-7;10-11

Jehovah Shalom, Lord of Peace, I remember those living in coronavirus hotspots and those currently in isolation. May they know Your presence in their isolation, Your peace in their turmoil and Your patience in their waiting. Prince of Peace, You are powerful and merciful; let this be their prayer:

Psalm 57:1-3

God of all comfort and counsel, we pray for those who are grieving, reeling from the sudden loss of loved ones. May they find Your fellowship in their suffering, Your comfort in their loss, and Your hope in their despair. We name before You those known to me who are vulnerable and scared – the frail, the sick and the elderly. God of all comfort, You are powerful and merciful; may this be our prayer:

Psalm 79:8-9

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need. Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake. May this be a time of Your Glory being seen in this world. May our prayer be:

2 Corinthians 1:8-11

Jehovah Rapha, God who heals, we pray for all medical professionals who are daily dealing with the intense pressures of this crisis. Grant them resilience in weariness, discernment in diagnosis, and compassion upon compassion as they care. We thank You for the army of researchers, working steadily and quietly towards a cure – give them clarity, serendipity and unexpected breakthroughs today.

Malachi 4:2

God of all wisdom, we pray for the World Health Organization, national governments, and heads of schools, hospitals and other institutions. Since You have positioned these people in public service for this hour, I ask You to grant them wisdom, beyond their own wisdom, as to how to contain this virus; faith, beyond their own faith, to fight this fear; and strength, beyond their own strength, to support institutions and people in their care in this time of turmoil. God of all wisdom and counsel, You are powerful and merciful; may this be my prayer:

Jeremiah 32:17

Psalm 46:1-3

May El Shaddai, the Lord God Almighty who loves us, protect us.

May Jesus Christ, His Son who died for us, save us.

And may the Holy Spirit, who broods over the chaos and fills us with His presence, intercede for us and in us for others at this time.

 Psalm 91:3-7

Father, help me to live this day to the full, being true to You, in every way.

Jesus, help me to give myself away to others, being kind to everyone I meet.

Spirit, help me to love the lost, proclaiming Christ in all I do and say.

Psalm 4:1

2 Timothy 4:18

Senior Luncheon Canceled

Due to the ongoing health concerns for Seniors, our monthly Precious Jewels Senior Luncheon will be canceled for Tuesday, March 17.   Please stay safe and protect yourself as much as possible.  God Bless You.  Pastor Don Milner

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. -Psalm 96:11-12 (NIV)

It had been a day. You know the kind: Spouse out of town, kids .wound up from school, dinner taking extra long to get on the table, and bedtime strung out with a few added requests for milk, water,

books, and snuggles. The days with two little ones can be so long; I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I do value the few minutes of peace I get when everyone is safely tucked in.

Shutting their doors for (really) the last time, I made my way down the stairs feeling completely discouraged. Olivia’s final, unprompted “I love You, Ma” after my terse denial to keep her milk cup in her bed had pretty much broken me.

Suddenly, I heard a huge gush of water. A thunderstorm unloaded gallons of rain on our neighborhood. I rushed to the window, in awe of this midsummer deluge, and that’s when I saw it: the most beautiful

sunset looming low in my kitchen window.

I have no doubt that God sent me that sunset to remind me that His mercies, like my patience, will be renewed in the morning.

Perhaps foolishly, I marched back upstairs, sneaked into the kids’ rooms, and covered their dozing faces with kisses.

Now, when I see a beautiful sunset at that window, I’m reminded that God knows my heart and hears my prayers, even when I forget to say them out loud!

God, help me to remember that these precious children are Yours, only on loan to me for a little while, and that sleep always, eventually, comes.

Digging Deeper: Genesis 9:16; Psalm 19:1; Lamentations 3:22-23

Don’t miss this Saturday’s exhibit by Christian Martian Arts…

The agenda was adopted…the minutes were approved… the final secretary gave a grief report.

We have received word of sudden passing of Rev. Smith this morning during the worship service. Now let’s sing “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.”

This Sunday morning following services we will have our monthly feelowship.

His unfailing love … is as great as the height of the heavens above.  -Psalm 103: 11 NLT

No matter what the other disciples told him about the resurrection, Thomas wanted to see for himself-so for 7 days he sat on his hands. He needed firsthand evidence. And Jesus gave it to him. “Put your finger here and see my hands.

Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” (In 20:27 NLT). And Thomas did-“My Lord and my God!” (In 20:28 NLT). Only God could come back from the dead. And only a God of love would come back for a doubter.

Know what? Our doubts don’t separate us from God’s love! Listen: “For his unailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height ofthe heavens above” (Ps 103: 11 NLT). The big news of the Bible is not that you love God-but that He loves you! He says your name is engraved on the palm of His hand. His thoughts of you outnumber the grains of sand on the beach. He sees the worst in you yet still believes the best. Your sins of yesterday and your failings in the future don’t surprise Him; He knows them all. Every day and every deed of your life has passed before His eyes and been calculated in His decision.

He knows you better than you know yourself. And He’s reached His verdict: “1 love you!” No discovery will disillusion Him, no rebellion dissuade Him. He loves you with an unfailing love, and that knowledge can lift you, restore you and put you back on your feet.
